If you are looking for a something simple and small (e.g. a name tattoo, Infinity sign, semicolon) - you can make a visit to our shop and we can assist you on the day. It is best to come earlier in the day, if you can. We open from 10am to 6pm and take walk-ins all day, everyday.
If you want to get something bigger and detailed (e.g. a tattoo from a specific artist or from the internet), we would love to help you design the tattoo that is best suited for you.
We understand your first tattoo can seem a bit scary or perhaps you want some advice before you commit. At Soweto Ink Tattoo Lifestyle, you are in the right place. We have done thousands of first tattoos for people and we all remember our first time as well. Its okay to be nervous but really there is nothing to worry about, it is Art!
"How much will the tattoo hurt?"
"What if I can’t handle pain of the tattoo?"
We've had a lot of things go through our mind as well before the needle hits our skin for the first time.
The team is well equipped to answer every question you have.
Research the tattoo style or images you like. A good place to start is always to Google Image search tattoo designs you may like. Instagram and Pinterest is also a great place to search tattoo designs. You may not like the tattoo style on image or certain aspects of the design. That’s cool, we can assist in changing it to suit your style, the more ideas - the better.
Bring any tattoo reference image that you have and show us what you like. Some images will translate to a tattoo, while some images can look amazing on paper but for various reasons will not work on the skin. The best tattoos look like tattoos. We will advise you on how to get the best possible outcome based on your tattoo idea. Listen to your tattoo artist and trust in their expertise. We have years of experience helping our clients and we want the absolute best for your first tattoo.
On the day of your tattoo session, come in well-rested, well-fed and wear appropriate clothing (e.g. wear shorts if you are getting your leg done etc.) It does hurt, but it’s a bearable pain. You can bring some headphones if you'd like to listen to music. In a short time it will be done and you will have your first tattoo.
